Currently, still in production, the Resurrection of the Crone Project is a raw photographic portrait series based on the intimate journeys of older women as they connect to and celebrate their inner Crone.
The intention of this project is two-fold:
1. To look beyond the modern day trappings of today’s ideals of unnaturally perfect and youthful beauty.
2. To reinstate the culture of female elders being perceived as not only beautiful as they age naturally but having deep substance, gifts of experience, self-acceptance, clear wisdom and therefore being a great and valuable asset in today’s society.
A small selection of images of the first few subjects in the project was released in time for Women’s International Day 2016. The project and brief details of personal journeys of the subjects have been featured on ABC Open, ABC Radio and ABC National, Tree Sisters, Harmony (a magazine in India), Bokeh-Digital Rev in Hong Kong and most recently Yours Magazine, July 2016 issue 64 (a subsidiary of Women’s Weekly). Links to these features and individual images have been shared numerous times on social media notably amongst women’s conscious groups.
The complete vision for the project culminates into a photography exhibition opening on Women’s International Day 2017 or 2018 and or a coffee table book, displaying subjects and their personal testimonies of blooming into their crone. Funding or a host has yet to be secured to make this a reality.
